HPI reports – “HPI Poland recently attended a meeting of the biggest and loudest monster trucks in the world, taking along HPI models like the Savage, Baja and more to wow and impress the arena crowds! RC drivers were able to not only watch the Monster Jam car-smashing action, but actually drive their trucks on the actual course that the full-size trucks ran on! In the pit area, a demonstration area was set up with many jumps and a large area for the trucks to really show their stuff, and the crowds gathered 5 or 6 deep to get a close look at the stunts and speeds the Savage was able to hit! As well as all this, the RC drivers took parts in the third race of the HPI-LRP Challenge, earning championship points towards the year-long competition!” Find Out More… [Source - hpi-europe.com]

HPI Supports D1RC Crew at Silverstone

“D1RC at the Japanese Tuning Show / European Drift Championship, 31 May  Boy, that was fun! Despite unearthly early starts for us all, the D1RC Drift Display Squad descended on Silverstones hallowed paddock for what was to be a super sized successful day of exhibition drifting in front of our biggest crowd since we began in 2005. Invited to display by our good friends at ‘EDC Need for Speed’, we hit the gates at 6.30 after most of us had already been on the road for several hours. The JTS organisers couldn’t have been more helpful and within an hour we had our track laid, fencing in place, banners up and our new pa system waking the dead! The weather forecast was a sunny 26C and, for once, they got it right and we fried right through to around 6pm when the ebbing crowds allowed us to stop and go! The hours between were filled with great drift track action where we ran no less than five back to back 16 car finals and, thanks to a very generous HPI Europe, we had great drift related prizes for all 10 finalists. Best of all though was the support we received from the crowds that gathered three deep to watch the action. If any of us dared to venture from the garages to the crowd fencing we were immediately collared by spectators who wanted to know about the cars, how much, how hard to drive and, most importantly of all, where could they buy one! If only a retailer stand had been in the neighbouring bay they would have been kept very busy! Drifting has at last come of age in the UK and this is reflecting in interest in 1/10th electric drift cars too. Let’s hope the momentum continues.” Find Out More… [Source - hpi-europe.com]

Team Durango DEX410 Ultimate Race spec

Team Durango DEX410 Ultimate & Race spec

Team Durango have released further details about the new DEX410 buggy together with the release date and pricing. According to Durango, the buggy was originally conceived pre ‘credit-crunch’ and is a no-compromise specification with a huge number of new features for the class, all of which is reflected in the price. Team Durango considered not launching this high spec car and launching a dumbed-down version instead, however racer interest has been so high, and running costs seem to be much lower than current cars out there, that Team Durango will push forward with the ultimate spec as the launch car. The company will however later release the buggy in a more cost friendly version, called the DEX410R which is expected to launch around September with a standard specification and perhaps even the class standard ball differentials. Expect the DEX410R to have a street price of around $390 (€306, £270), while the ultimate launch spec DEX410, expected to be released in late June, will be around $650 in the shops, which is around €510 or £450 in Europe when sales taxes are added.
